Yaatra is an audiovisual essay documenting my trip to Northern India in 2020. Together with long-time friend and photographer Christian Schalch I set out to immerse myself into Indian culture and capture the essence of the encounters we made along the way. Yaatra - A Journey North, is not a documentary, but rather a postcard home and an homage to the many people we met during our trip. The Northwest Territories is the last corner of North America to be tamed – home to the biggest and deepest lakes, the highest waterfalls, the fabled Northwest Passage, the forbidding Barrenlands, and so much more. It is home to people with deep roots, diverse cultures, hearty handshakes, and spellbinding stories. In our small towns, ancient ways still rule – and our cities burst with frontier spirit. And it is the best place on Earth to witness the cavorting Aurora and the midnight sun. In summer, we’re downright toasty. In winter, the weather gets weird, with sundogs, moonbows, trees frosted in glitter, and roads made out of ice. Come and visit!

The 2016 Xterra Maui Championship was a tough and epic final battle for the top prize. More than 800 athletes from 46 countries came to compete. It starts with big Hawaiian swells through a one-mile swim then onto a 20-mile mud filled trail ride.
